The BBQ Central Show is a weekly internet based show that airs live each Tuesday from 9pm-11pm EST originating from Cleveland, Ohio. Each show attempts to cover the big news items in the BBQ and Grilling industry in hopes of promoting the art and sport of barbecue. My first guest tonight is currently traveling the country in one of the biggest baddest cookers on the road today. Trace Arnold, owner of 3 Stack BBQ and the Ultimate Smoker and Grill takes a few minutes to visit with us to talk about his work with the History Channel. He is also going to talk about his restaurant and what it’s like to keep a good and profitable business up and running!
In the 3rd segment, I will be joined by monthly contributor, official show product reviewer and creator of BBQ.About.Com website, Derrick Riches. Derrick spent some time at the infamous BBQ University that Steven Raichlen puts on. He will give us the inside scoop on it and if it is really worth the price of admission. e might also be able to break some news on a product we might all have an interest in!
The start of the 2nd hour is a bit different tonight. We go right at the top of the hour with something completely outside the box, but I feel it is an important topic to hit given the recent events with Paula Deen and her release from the Food Network. Dr Akil Houston, Assistant Professor of Cultural and Media Studies in the Department of African American Studies at Ohio University joins me to talk about the “N” word, the history of it, how it is used among different cultures and how other slurs may or may not compare to this one. This should be a VERY interesting segment and I hope you tune in for this one!
Next up is Sales and Marketing Director for The BBQ Guru, Bob Trudnak. Bob will give us an update on the Guru product lines and also give us a recap of how the 2013 season is going for the Guru competition team. Bob is always entertaining so be sure to tune in for this segment
Coming out of the bullpen tonight is John Patty, from JP Custom Smoke. John and I will talk a bit about rubs, why they are doing so well on the circuit right now and about his recent expansion in to England.
